About

I'm Alex Morgan, a bookbinder by trade and a walker by habit. I live in a small town at the edge of the hills, where the bakery closes at noon and the footpaths start right behind the church.

Field Notes started as a paper notebook I carried in my coat pocket. After a few years, the notebooks piled up on a shelf and I wanted a place where the notes could be found again. This blog is that place.

What you'll find here

  • Walks: routes, weather, and the things I noticed along the way.
  • Reading: short reviews of books, mostly old ones.
  • Craft: bookbinding, woodworking, and other slow projects.
  • Web: why this site is static, light, and free of trackers.
